Community leaders, company’s 450 Charlotte employees mark opening
Electrolux executives and employees, together with state, county and city officials, gathered today at Electrolux North America’s new headquarters in Charlotte to commemorate the company’s relocation to the city and officially celebrate the formal opening of the facility.
“Today, Electrolux North America in Charlotte is 450 people – both long-time residents and new Charlotteans – working in this great, repurposed facility. It’s fair to say that we’ve accomplished a lot in a short time,” Mr. Scott said. “We are still hiring, and we are on track to meet our projection of 738 employees in Charlotte within five years.”
“Welcome, Electrolux,” says Governor Perdue
“Welcome, Electrolux, and thank you, again, for choosing the Queen City as your North America headquarters,” said North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, who attended the Opening Doors event. “Our business friendly climate, incredible people and strong education policies make North Carolina one of the best places to live and work. We hope you will find success here and keep growing in North Carolina.”
In addition to Gov. Perdue and Mr. Scott, participants in the event included Electrolux Group President and CEO Hans Stråberg; Keith McLoughlin, who will become Electrolux CEO in January 2011; Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx; and Mecklenburg County Commission Chair Jennifer Roberts.
Mr. Stråberg said, “This move has been part of a company-wide strategy, based on a sharp customer focus and shared global strength.
“The Electrolux North America Headquarters supports our company’s objective to become a unified team, working toward common goals…to be ‘One Electrolux’ across all regions of the world. Working together under one roof allows us to improve coordination and better serve the needs of our customers, our business and our shareholders, and we are already seeing early signs that the decision to become ‘One Electrolux’ was the right one for our North American businesses.”
Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx said, “It is an honor to help celebrate the new home of Electrolux’s North American headquarters. The company and its employees are a welcome addition to our community and we look forward to seeing Electrolux continue to grow and thrive in Charlotte.”
Current CEO, Hans Straberg, welcomes CEO Designate, Keith McLoughlin, to the podium.
